This one of the very few Robin Nolan models that John Kinnard built for Dell'Arte in San Diego, CA. It is essentially the Hommage model with numerous upgrades: bigtone pickup, JP Favino style fretboard extension, gold DR tailpiece, and closed Schaller tuners. The Dell'Arte Robin Nolan/Hommage has long been one of the best selling Gypsy jazz guitars of all time. This model has proven itself in the hands of so many of the greats including Jimmy Rosenberg, Boulou Ferre, Angelo Debarre, Robin Nolan, etc.
The Robin Nolan model is a tribute to the large bodied guitars built by Jacques Favino in the 1960s-70s. The larger body and scale length improves the bass register response and volume of the guitar. This example is easily the driest sounding Dell'Arte I've ever seen. The tone is very direct and clear with little overtone ringing or echo. Highs are rounded with most of the guitar's energy being directed into the midrange. There is some of the classic Favino nasal-ness, but just a bit. Tonally, this instrument will be a huge relief to those struggling with overly wet, thin sounding Asian made instruments. The clarity of tone this instrument posses is only found in handmade instruments made of quality materials. You get all this and a bigtone pickup for $1000 less than this model sold for new. Great deal!
Condition is good with some mild signs of wear: light checking on top, a few small dings on the top and body, finish wear on back of the neck, mild fret wear.
There is also a Deluxe Fiberglass case included ($235 value).
