This delightful Selmer copy was handbuilt in France by Francois
Baudemont. The specs are similar to that of the original Selmer guitar:
spruce top, Indian rosewood back and sides, and a walnut neck. The
dimensions are typical, with the body measuring 15 3/4" across the lower
bout and the neck is a full 670mm. Francois added a beautiful abalone
inlay in the headstock and a "dot-less" fingerboard which gives the guitar a
slightly more modern look.
Tonally this instrument clear and
bright, with nice shimmery highs that make your lead lines sparkle and
sing. It is also an exceptionally loud guitar that has both the high
end punch as well as the all around projection needed to cut through in
even the most volume challenged situations.
Francois setup this
guitar with very slinky 2.8mm action. Not only is the action low, but it
sounds good with light gauge Argentine 1510 strings which is usually
not possible with sub 3mm action. The result is exceptional playability
which makes this instrument perfect for someone looking for an
instrument that is easy on their hands.
All in all, a fine guitar
at any price but an absolute steal in the sub $3K price range. An
amazing deal for a French made guitar of this quality.
