1986 Pierre Anastasio

1986 Pierre Anastasio

Here's an opportunity to get great vintage sound at a fraction of the price of big names, like Favino, Busato, and Selmer. This wonderful guitar was built by Pierre Anastasio, a major fixture of the Parisian lutherie scene from the 60s through the early 90s. He is most famous for the guitars he built for Angelo Debarre during the early part of his career (one of which he used on the famous Gypsy Guitars CD.)

This premium example of Anastasio's work features gorgeous Brazilian rosewood back and sides, a spruce top, and a walnut neck. It has a set of nickel three on a plate tuners and an Aria brass tailpiece. The frets are new. This instrument is in excellent condition with just some mild pick wear, a few small dings on the side of the lower treble bout, and a few scratches on the back.

Tonally this guitar is a monster!  When I first played it, the dry, clear tone it produced was reminiscent of some of the best guitars we have in the shop, most  notably the Dupont Vieille Reserve which features a 40 year aged top. Then it occurred to me that this instrument has nearly the same vintage woods as the Dupont VR, but for half the price, making it one of the best values in the shop. It's nearly impossible to find a new guitar with the tonal refinement and clarity that this instrument possess. Vintage instruments that generally have these qualities tend to be highly collectible big name brands like Selmer, Busato, and Favino. So treat yourself to great vintage tone at a player's price, it's not often we have something good for so little $!
