This handsome D hole was constructed by the well respected Canadian luthier David Webber. Based in Vancouver, BC, Webber has long been known for his finely crafted flatop and and nylon string guitars. This very rare Gypsy model is based on the original Maccaferri specs, featuring a 12 fret neck and a short 650mm scale length. The top is spruce, the back and sides are solid Indian rosewood, and the neck is mahogany. More contemporary features include a solid peghead, Webber branded Gotoh tuners, and a classical style heel.

This instrument has a well balanced, warm, and rounded tone that makes this an excellent choice for both rhythm work and unaccompanied solo playing. It produces rich, sonorous chords with deep bass notes and chocolatey, complex mids. Like most D holes, the treble frequencies are rounded, with a softer attack than longer scale, oval hole models. These qualities make this instrument both an exceptional rhythm guitar as well as a versatile, all around acoustic that can perform well in a number of styles from folk to modern jazz.

After nearly tens years, this instrument is miraculously still in mint condition. It has no scratches or dings and just the slightest hint of some fretwear on treble strings. Hand made instruments of this quality generally sell for well over $3K. This "like new" example is an exceptional deal at just $2K.
