Nuevo Single-Coil Specifications:
Nice
Pros: Easy to mount. No hot B string. More of an acoustic tone. Responsive to EQ.
Cons: Have to use putty to mount. While the cable felt like it was attached to the pickup pretty well, I am nervous about how fragile the connection point is.
Just a quick review. I've owned a few other pickups/contact mikes and purchased this mainly because of its reported low profile. The magetic pickup I currently own does not fit one of the guitars I bought, so my options where to raise the action, use a contact mike, or use a lower profile pickup. I opted for the third. I used this without testing in first on a gig. While I was not able to get the pickup as close to the neck as I would like, I got it in a comfortable location and lined up the dot under the B string. I used this on a petite bouche into an AER Compact 60. I turned the master all the way up and used the channel volume as my instrument volume. First thing I can say is that this truly does eliminate the hot B string issue that other mas have a problem with. The high E string sounded a bit thinner that the other mag I use, but overall, the pickup was much more balanced. Sound felt warm and closer to my acoustic sound. I'll list the pros and cons below, but I'd certainly recommend this as an alternative to the Stimer style. Well done.
