pickup talking to steel or nylon strings

hi

let's say that you have a guitar with a pickup and you have steel strings in your guitar and your pickup 'talks' to your strings well. If you put nylon strings in your guitar is it guaranteed that your pickup will work well with your nylon strings ? Or maybe there are separate pickups for nylon strings and separate pickups for steel strings? Please, write comments

If you're using a magnetic pickup, no. The nylon strings cannot disturb the pickup's magnetic field to generate a signal.

If you're using a non-magnetic pickup like a BigTone, the answer is yes, but of course you'll have to make adjustments in your signal chain (e.g. in equalization) to accommodate the new strings.
