Ok, was surfing YouTube for GJ vids and came across this old one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0xD7Ly5Nj9A&feature=related

Looks like Denis Chang is in the house. Can anyone give anymore details about the players and the place? Swan (?) looks like he's all of 11 or 12, and well on his way.

Wow! How exciting it must have been to see kids playing like that! (and thank goodness there weren't any gypsy girls in my high school... I'd probably still be a .... well...)

    I'm going to practice now...

that's samois... probably 2008 or 2007.... it's at the awesome AJL stand http://www.ajl-guitars.com , that's why i waas there sitting around

the other kid is pierre manetti, a phenomenal bebop player... son of romane..

That's just amazing. These people raise bumper-crops of 10-15 year olds who can sit down and bust-out tight swing like that. I'm in awe.

Bravo kids, bravo. At that age - a wonderful time in life because all the senses are so acute and every part of your body and mind works so quickly and learns so instinctively ... and yet so many kids waste that amazing and unique time in life learning how to stare at a screen and play first-person shooter games.

Imagine if a person could snap his fingers and instantaneously turn every game console everywhere on earth turn into a musical instrument. Hell, we'd achieve world peace in one generation... two tops... every kid in the world learning how to listen to others (rhythm) and how to speak their mind (solo) and learning to group together and make something harmonious happen instead of learning how to group together to defeat others. I suppose it's too much to ask, but a nice daydream at any rate.

Here's another one of that kid, Swan... what a champ!

You get one chance to enjoy this day, but if you're doing it right, that's enough.

Bob, I agree. These kids are just amazing. The good thing about the internet is being able to find these types of media and dig into other cultures!
  • Insightful words Bob.
The Magic really starts to happen when you can play it with your eyes closed
