My friends it is a day in history !
I had the news on the french forum this night, Patrus has apparently put that online.
Patrus where does it come from?

Yes new Django footage from 1943, a real Django footage : outrageously short! No music but hey, this is Django!

70 years after footage still emerge, that gives so much hope!

Enjoy

A great and incredible find indeed!

I visited last year the Capitole Theater in Gent and spoke with the director (the wife of luthier Luc Deneys a good friend of mine) that knew about Django's venue around 1942 but she had no precise dates nor documents but she was searching...

I will try to see if more comes out

When Django played in Knokke le Zout in 1943 at the New Orleans Club he was seen by young actor Marc Danval that remembered:

"When I was 13 or 14 years old, I spent my holidays to Knokke, where Django played at the New Orléans, a club below the Casino. I fell on him in a bar of the avenue Lippens, he played billiards with quite scary hefty men with whom he had a big row. At a moment, he turned to me to ask me if I did not want to play with him. If he quarrelled all the time, it was because he cheated as a pig. I said nothing, it was my idol. It was an incredible musician. Nobody made what he made."

    Nice anecdote, thanks Spatzo!
Have you noticed the logo moving on the upper left side of the screen? Looks like it has been re-framed... Damned, where does this footage come from?
  • So short. So wonderful

The logo is really strange, it looks like the address of some inexisting internet site: OAR.be?

that's it alright, and the quality is better. the first one looks like it was filmed off the screen with a phone camera or something.

Hm, jazz manouche made me learn French. Now I believe I have to learn Dutch too! Cool comping style, by the way. Good to see the source for the new Django clip!
