edited January 2013 in North America Posts: 19
Gypsy jazz musicians from around Puget Sound will celebrate Django Reinhardt’s 103rd birthday with an evening of music on Friday, January 18, 2013 at the Royal Room in Columbia City. The party, from 8 PM to midnight, will be hosted by two bands, Touché and Ranger and the ‘Re-Arrangers’, and will feature special guests Greg Ruby and David Lange.

Touché is an eclectic music ensemble featuring the senior statesman of NW gypsy jazz, Neil Andersson. Neil is a former member of Seattle Gypsy jazz band Pearl Django, and is a member of the Northwest Music Hall of Fame. Ranger and the ‘Re-Arrangers’ features the violin playing of Ranger Sciacca, whose band has performed about 100 Gypsy jazz shows a year since 2007. According to Sciacca, “This is not just another gig for Touché or our band. We are really focused on making this a true musical party, featuring as many great local Gypsy jazz players as we can.” Among the guest soloists will be Greg Ruby, founder of Hot Club Sandwich, and David Lange, member of Pearl Django.

The Royal Room opened in 2011 in Columbia City with the goal of encouraging cross-pollination and collaboration between different bands and different artists. There is no cover charge for this and most other events at the Royal Room, which is located at 5000 Rainer Avenue South.https://www.facebook.com/events/591313360884939/
