I dug deeper under the similar artists tab and found Jazz Manouche Instrumental Ensemble. Another AI account, with several albums, and claiming to have collaborated with Pearl Django on the tracks.

The presence of this music is sickening enough, but I am so grossed out that the account owners are falsely claiming contributions from real working artists.

Put your slop out, if you must, but don’t ride on the coat tails of actual artists who dedicated their lives to mastering and pushing this genre of music forward. It’s a common AI tactic that gets the account more streams, and legitimizes the AI tracks in the view of Spotify’s algorithms.

It’s tough to navigate the flow of this slop that is being force fed to us daily, but be aware. And champion the real contributors to this music.

Being a middle-level gypsy jazz guitarist, I composed one composition. It is not gypsy jazz, probably some funk (I am not an expert in styles). But I know this community has a deep and wide knowledge and could help me with one question.

I think of recording the composition and publishing via music stream (YouTube Music, Spotify, and many others). I found there are a lot of distributors and I chose one.

The composition has only a solo, it doesn't have a bass or rhythm guitar. I ask myself, do I need equipment? I don't think the composition will shoot off, so spending money on recording hardware is a big concern. I don't know if I will come up with new compositions in the future. The current one I composed looks like a big project for me (because I never did it before).

Here's what I have: an 8-year-old mediocre budget level laptop, a three-year-old iPhone, a Cigano, a Krivo pick-up, an amplifier Boss Cube Street 2, a looper Digitech Trio+

Only a really deep, persuasive reason can convince me to spend more than $10.

The basic consideration is to record on my iPhone using the default Voice Memos app. Sound quality will not be perfect; it might distract the public from listening to it regularly and sharing. However, a few years ago before buying the looper, I recorded my backing tracks on the iPhone; sound quality was good for open mic performances. I don't think that a higher quality recording will make a change in the distribution of my future recording.

I tried to connect my iPhone to the Boss Cube Street2 using its very old and not-updated for 10 years app, Roland Cube Jam. The app is unstable and always closes, but the main thing it needs is a backing track to record with. Additionally, even connected via a jack to the amplifier, the iPhone mic recorded outside noise (while I expected it would record only signals from my pick-up sending to the amplifier).

Other options: buy something.

I am open to listening to opinions and advice.

I am currently in a deep search of finding a transcription for the solo Rex Stewart performed on the recording of I Know That You Know, but I haven't gotten lucky so far. My level of transcribing is not ready to get me very far, so I was wondering, does someone have a transcription of this peace that they are willing to share with me?

Upon Buco's recommendation, I just bought a Blue Yeti microphone... so now I'm looking for tips on how to twirl all the knobs and dials on the side of the thing to make it sound best for recording my acoustic guitar... anybody have any suggestions..?

@DoubleWhisky recently involved his friend and a bandmate Rebekka on violin so she recorded the solo section and he added guitars to it as well, acoustic and electric. He also did mix and mastering.

This started as a remote collaboration in 2021.

Willie Jakob, from Hamburg Germany, suggested to cover this traditional Gypsy song. I came up with the arrangement, using traditional instrumentation (until A. Lautner brought in his Fender Jaguar with vibro effect:) ) but wanted arrangement to be a fresh take. The first part of intro is in 9/8s, then it goes to 4/4 (maybe it could even be heard as 2/4) time.

This song became one of most satisfying projects I was ever associated with.
