Thoughts? Any reason why they don’t have extensions when some D-holes can go out to 25-26 frets for the high E & B strings.

In Jan-Feb 2002 I attended a private party / small club performance in the Netherlands by the Rosenberg Trio, via the good offices of Mary Honcoop who some on this group will no doubt remember... I took some photos of the occasion, this was the pianist who played with the Trio and I am wondering if anyone can confirm his identity - could it for example be Peter Beets who played with them on a number of other occasions? Saw this on the French board.

I had a great 11 day trip to Paris. Partly just to hang, partly to hear music, partly to take some lessons and partly to get some feedback on my most recent guitar.

I managed to get a bunch of fantastic players to play my guitar and made a bunch of videos. I uploaded them to my youtube channel and wanted to share them. Regardless of my own self promotion I think you'll like these recordings, I got lucky.

At some point I'll get around to listing this guitar for sale and the Petite Bouche I made this summer.

Long time listener, first time caller here! My name is Gareth. Briefly, I went to Berklee College of Music as a singer and dabble a bit in the ol' Gypsy Jazz guitar. I found myself in Paris absorbing as much as I could and wanted to give back to the community, so I regularly pop over from Massachusetts (I'm in Paris right now, actually) and photograph some of the artists that play at my favorite places. I've become friends with Christoph et Julien Brunard (who have residencies at MONK and Au Clairon Des Chausseurs) and the other Brunard, William (that plays with Angelo Debarre, Bireli Lagrene, etc) but try to bounce around and see and photograph as many players as I have the energy for!

I thought I'd post some links here for all to enjoy, as I mainly just give the photos to the artists for promo materials (and nobody else looks at my website, anyway). Hopefully, you'll find some shots you enjoy and, if you see a photographer bouncing around that sometimes ends up singing on stage, say hello!

the tailpiece says ‘S’ as in Saga, but from the placements of dots on fretboard and the pearl design rosette, it can’t quite be identified if the tailpiece has been added on so it might very well not be a Cigano nor a Gitane

I'll start with my tattoo of the most famous hand in music history based on a drawing by R.S.Baxter that I guess everyone in here has seen. It may be a bit of a poser thing to do, but at least the members here know the significance of the motif as opposed to the casual swimming pool visitor who assumes that this is just a poorly implemented design of an failed middle finger tattoo haha.

I chose this motif because not only it is a hommage to Django and his music, but at the same time it should serve as an inspiration when life let's you think "this won't work".

We do know that he boasted of teaching Babik to shoplift and according to Stephane Grappelli, he was very adept at catching and wringing the necks of chickens on country walks, but these could leniently be considered only relatively minor misdemeanours. He was much too interested in music, women and gambling to be heavily involved in any major criminal activity although it has been claimed that he often cheated at billiards and cards. Despite such indiscretions, I do not think he should be viewed as a thief in the classic sense but more a somewhat eccentric man whose upbringing gave him a very flexible attitude to possessions.

I found a picture of her artwork and it is below. I don't know that a rusty walkman and can headphones speak "Django" to me, but hey, that is art. It moves people in different ways. I just found it neat to see that Django continues to inspire people beyond our small world of GJ musicians and aficionados.

this is my daily player and I don’t have much infos about it. I saw quite the same and it was told that it is a Sonora Busato but I ´me not sure of that. I had to make a new finguerboard , this is not the original one ( it has two dots per case).

For me, it's the coolest pic of Django I've ever seen and I'd love a big print that I could frame. I took it to a local photoshop who made me a postcard size of it but refused to do it any bigger cos they said the resolution (quality or whatever) was so poor.

Anybody got any suggestions or a better quality jpeg etc?

I am searching for Gypsy Guitar vector graphics (O-hole, D-hole), just for making a t-shirt logo or playing around with graphics....

Any ideas?

I have written, emailed, called and badgered a number of luthiers, instrument collectors and recommended authorities on jazz manouche lutherie and still cannot verify the maker or era of this guitar. Here’s what I do know:

1. Solid rosewood back and sides
2. possibly cedar top
3. Mirecourt luthier of unknown ancestry.
4. The previous owner was unaware of this guitar’s origins.

The following are the post restoration photos, with non original items:

3. new fretjob.

Any guidance would be appreciated.
