How is that book progressing? I think there would be quite a bit of interest in a book like that, since as far as I am aware, nothing like it already exists. I was enjoying listening to Oscar's versions In the Mood and Russian Lullaby recently, and,as always, I am was amazed by his unique approach to every tune he plays. His rhythm is amazing.

I'm curious about something - Every play along I've heard so far is very modern sounding, with good mics and pro tools quality recording.
SO... first question - Is there a play along series that a) intentially tries to sound like the STYLE of Pompe' Django ACTUALLY played (clearer voicings of the chords and a slightly slower, that's right slower, upstrum which would nowadays be considered bad pompe'.
AND b) recorded in a way so it would actually SOUND like an early django recording with the solo removed (like with that 30's background hiss that some of us like).

second question - - If there is NOT something like this already, am I the ONLY person who would want playalongs that sound this way, or are there others who would like it too ?

Just received this book .
Thank you Michael for the very quick and efficient delivery of my new pearl Django book.
As a relative beginner to GJ what would individuals suggest as to the best way to use this book ?
Would it benefit me to learn tab and songs first before referring to this book ?
It's good to have none the less as i know that opinions on this forum say it,s an excellent manual.

It conveys a wealth of valuable creative insight into this music. I am enjoying working through all of the material, but as a chord melody player found the Dudley composition New Metro Swing to be a special treat. I am sorry I did not get to see Pearl Django while he was in the band.

I did get to her you guys in Florida recently, and attended your workshops in Waldo. Thanks for taking the trouble to come down this way and I hope it was a good trip from your perspective. I found your rhythm workshop to be especially valuable and took particular pleasure in your taking us through the tune Bossa Dorado. Later when I heard your composition Palo Verde on a CD I had picked up after the workshop I began to appreciate the strong latin influence on gypsy music, which is something I wish I had asked about during the workshop. I am getting the melody of Palo Verde fairly well off the recording, but there are a couple of harmonies I am still struggling to hear. I hope you will feature some latin influenced tunes in your in future books you release, because this material is so unique and wonderful - sort of the best of both worlds. By the way, your teaching skills are pretty impressive. Thanks for sharing them so generously.

In the intro to the Pearl Django play-along book, it says "Gypsy-style alternate chord changes have been notated" for 5 of the songs. Are the versions on the CD not comprised of voicings that are idiomatic to GJ?

Are the alternate chord changes more "authentic" to the Sinti-style?

What about the rest of the songs in the book?

I really liked your tone when you played at the last DFNW. Afterward, I asked you about your equipment and you told me that you were using a Schertler Basik (perhaps in combination with a Bigtone?).

Were you using it through one of their preamps. or just plugged right in to your amp (I think it was an AER?)?

My question is about the minor 6th arpeggio over the Dm6 in the head of "Blues en Mineur". I am still trying to get this under my fingers up to speed, but I'm wondering -- I think it might be easier for me played up around the 4th/5th position rather than going down towards the nut as in the book. This also would let me easily play the song in G, which I think is a common key for this piece. What do others do? Are there any patterns for a m6 arpeggio that any of you prefer?
