This pick blew my mind. I tend to think that technique is more important that gear, and I still think that is true, but the pick make a big difference in playing rhythm both with correct sound and minimal effort. I was trying to learn with a big V-pick, a pick I still really enjoy, but I learned after getting this pick that the plastic create some resistance. This resistance add up both in terms of effort, but also limits total speed, and makes it harder to control volume (because I was using so...

This pick has an incredible sound. It has enough punch to make the strings sing clearly. It is dense but still light, and the rounded edge, sat at a ~45 degree angle, glides effortlessly over the strings. It makes a beautiful sound on the whip strokes when playing rhythm guitar. I strongly recommend this pick.

This is the Wegan take on the "button" pick, purportedly used by Django and company for rhythm strumming. It does what it's supposed to it's supposed to do, giving the strum a nice swishy/chunky sound. (think brushes on a snare drum) However, switching to single notes is a bit tricky. The application of this pick is very specific and is not a "cover all the bases" type of tool.

I bought this on a whim to test out what seemed to be an interesting pick, and it turned out to be semi-useful. While lead is damn near impossible for me when using it, rhythm is smooth as can be. There's no chance of it digging into the strings, which is great for beginners like me who are trying to get the proper sound. The bevels on the pick are certainly interesting, I'm trying to figure out the best way to hold it (I wish it would come with a little instruction picture on how to hold it pro...

Wegen Button Pick

Pros: Rhythm Guitar Effortless

Cons: Single Line Playing Trickier

This pick blew my mind. I tend to think that technique is more important that gear, and I still think that is true, but the pick make a big difference in playing rhythm both with correct sound and minimal effort. I was trying to learn with a big V-pick, a pick I still really enjoy, but I learned after getting this pick that the plastic create some resistance. This resistance add up both in terms of effort, but also limits total speed, and makes it harder to control volume (because I was using so much effort just to get through the strings). With the Wegen pick my stroke were immediately fast and effortless. Learning to play melody and solo lines with this pick will be tough, but that's because I am knew to gypsy jazz, and I do not have very much speed with the rest stroke picking. I personally find this pick hard to use with non-rest stroke styles of picking, but, after all, it is a gypsy jazz pick.

Interesting...

Not a bad pick

Pros: Ease of rhythm

Cons: Difficulty of lead, versatility

I bought this on a whim to test out what seemed to be an interesting pick, and it turned out to be semi-useful. While lead is damn near impossible for me when using it, rhythm is smooth as can be. There's no chance of it digging into the strings, which is great for beginners like me who are trying to get the proper sound. The bevels on the pick are certainly interesting, I'm trying to figure out the best way to hold it (I wish it would come with a little instruction picture on how to hold it properly) All in all, I don't regret buying it but due to the versatility issues don't see it being my main pick.
