I was not prepared for the sound of this guitar. To be clear, I've never played a bad Selmer, and they run the gamut from clear and present to raucous and folky depending on the year and model, so a player's taste will determine which they prefer, but I've played three Selmers that grabbed me entirely, and this is one of them. This guitar enchanted me.

1949 Selmer Petite Bouche #786

1949 Selmer Petite Bouche #786
This is it, the guitar that started it all! Vintage Selmer guitars have been studied for decades by the best luthiers in the world, but one has yet to create a guitar with the tonal refinement and projection of a vintage one such as this. Only the perfect mix of old world luthiery, select woods, and over fifty years of age can yield the astounding tone and projection that this instrument posses.

This one is really a dream come true as it has everything you could ever want in a vintage Selmer: Pristine condition, outstanding tone and projection, and the easy playability you'd expect of a contemporary instrument.

The hardware is all original and in excellent condition. This instrument has new frets and easy playing 2.2mm action. There are two small cracks the run from the end of the fingerboard to the soundhole, both of which were cleated and are stable.

An the sound? It's simply mind boggling! The body resonates with an efficiency that produces a rich tone and torrents of volume. As you might except, the tone is reminiscent of Django's Rome session recordings which also featured a 700 series Selmer. Many agree that those late 40s recordings were among his best sounding, and this is the guitar that will bring you the closest to achieving that yourself!

This is a wonderful opportunity to own a Selmer guitar that is exemplary in both its condition and sound. A once in a decade, perhaps once in a lifetime opportunity!
