Before receiving this pickup I owned the Dupont Stimer Reissue. While it is a good pickup I noticed a lot of other players were using the Peche A La Mouche. I did my research and noticed (through videos and sound clips) that this pickup: 1) Has a cleaner tone than the Stimer (very modern sounding, very archtop like) - There's a video of Stochelo playing cherokee in a jazz combo and it sounds great. 2) Better balance with the top 2 strings 3) Now has a detachable cable (the previo...

The Peche a la Mouche pickup works as intended. It produces a very balanced clear tone. I am using the pickup on a D-hole Dupont Nomade. The amplifiers I use are a Fender Twin Reverb and a Fender Champion 100. I was very surprised by the the overall sound quailty at a recent Jam session (Jazz). Keeping the amp settings level and reverb to a minimum produces a near natural sound. The mounting clip does a pretty good job holding the pickup in place, however using a little double sided tape re...

Great pickup! I was a little skeptical going in, but am extremely pleased with the tone. I don't have a lot of opportunity to try rarer guitars and accessories in my part of the world but i have faith in the forums and the reviews at this site - thanks all! Running on an '07 Dell Arte Oval Hommage through a 1937 Gibson EH-150 - beautiful! It does not clip on very firmly on my guitar, but nothing a little electrical tape wrapped around the clip couldn't fix.

Everything about it is amazing, finishes, materials, quality and design are really beautiful. The sound of it is very acceptable, somewhat low power (it's a single coil) but with good quality. Although this balanced if there is a small gap on the bass strings, recharging a little power in the first three strings. This pretty well insulated and prevents signal noise. Works well with other acoustic guitars with very good results. Would add a post with some equalizer amp tone. The price is hi...

Great little pick-up with a buttery smooth sound. Not an acoustic guitar sound. Kind of a bright single coil sound with smoother edges. Sounds nice plugged into my old Polytone Mini-Brute. I used it on both my Gitane guitars. A grand bouche D500 and a petite bouche John Jorgenson Tuxedo DG330.

I've always resisted magnetic pickups for gypsy jazz, much preferring the acoustic sound of 30s and early 40s Django. But my preferred setup of clip-on AT condenser. while fine in concert and small club situations, has its limitations in noisy environments, where volume and feedback can be a problem. I've never found a piezo pickup that I really liked, including bigtones. I finally broke down and tried the Peche a la Mouche. It turned out to be a lifesaver when my band was scheduled to play a...

This is one great pickup! The clamping system is superb and the sound is fabulous. It has a very 'true' sound...very much like the instrument but with the warmth of a magnetic pickup. I'd characterize it as being clean and bright, but with a nice mid-range. I've been using it with an Acoustic Image/ Raezer's Edge system and the combination is very satisfying.

Peche a la mouche vs stimer

It has red felt, plastic feet, and a better clip. - The Peche stays put very well on my gypsy guitar unlike the Stimer. 5) It also works with both oval and D hole gypsy guitars. (universal design) I'm not saying one is better than the other... Both are good. But after trying both, I would highly recommend the Peche A La Mouche over the Stimer.

Excellent pickup

Pros: Great sound, very clean, easy attachment

Cons: D hole clip may not work for all guitars

I've always resisted magnetic pickups for gypsy jazz, much preferring the acoustic sound of 30s and early 40s Django. But my preferred setup of clip-on AT condenser. while fine in concert and small club situations, has its limitations in noisy environments, where volume and feedback can be a problem. I've never found a piezo pickup that I really liked, including bigtones. I finally broke down and tried the Peche a la Mouche. It turned out to be a lifesaver when my band was scheduled to play a dance and I could not find the mike anywhere in the house. Went with the Peche instead and had a great time with it. The sound is definitely not acoustic, but with an acoustic amp (or DI's into the PA system), it is not screamingly electric, either. My bandmates liked it, and no one in the audience complained that it was not 30s Django (like they'd even know the difference!). String balance is excellent. The sound is quite clear, very little noise at all. I much prefer it to the Stimers that I've heard, much cleaner. It mounts easily on my oval hole. D hole owners should be aware that, while it has a separate clip for D hole attachment, it may not work well on all guitars. On my D hole, the brace is too close to the lip of the hole for a secure attachment. Putty (like the green Schertler putty) should do the trick, however. All in all, a fine pickup. If you're looking for the late Django electric sound, you should consider it. And for a no-problem option for noisy environments, it's hard to beat.
