2013 Killy Nonis Di Mauro Special Chorus ***NEW PRICE!!!***
UK based luthier Killy Nonis crafted this meticulously accurate Di Mauro Special Chorus replica. Killy has decades of experience building and repairing Selmer Maccaferri guitars and has had the pleasure to study and restore numerous vintage Selmers, Busatos, Favinos, Di Mauros, and other classic instruments. His extensive knowledge and skill enabled him to build one of the most accurate Di Mauro copies I've seen.

Stunningly beautiful, this visually striking instrument features a spruce top, Indian rosewood back and sides, and a Di Mauro style maple neck with an ebony spline. Embellishments include MOP fingerboard and moustache piece inlays, meticulously accurate gold SB replica tuners, Di Mauro style gold tailpiece, and attractive maple binding. The headstock in inscribed with the name of "Henri Salvadore", the great French Caribbean singer and guitarist who played Di Mauro guitars throughout his career.

The sound of this instrument is both big and crisp! The bass register is full and gutsy, so much so that it pulsates against your body while playing rhythm. The high end is crisp and clear, posessing the definition and attack required for acoustic lead playing. Like the Di Mauros of yore, this instrument is wonderfully dry and direct, focusing its prodigious volume out to the listener without any great effort from the player.

One of the most exceptional features of this guitar is its mind bogglingly low action! The action is set at just 2.2mm (only a dream for most Gypsy guitars). As a result, this instrument plays like an ultra smooth archtop of the Benedetto/Monteleone ilk. Yet, it can take the fierce playing style of Gypsy jazz without getting overly buzzy or harsh. This is a great guitar for someone looking for an instrument that is easy on the hands, without any compromise of tone or volume.

This instrument was slightly used during the Samois festival (see the videos below.) As a result, it has a bit of light "shop wear." Just a few scratches and very small dings on the top. It has been discounted accordingly.

It's great to see Killy do justice to this classic Di Mauro design. Both visually and sonically, it's nothing short of the ultimate Gypsy jazz fashion statement!
