Bought to replace the tailpiece in my Gitane D-500 after the original piece mysteriously cracked at one elbow. This replacement fit perfectly with no drilling needed. One of the slotted ends of the wooden isert cracked slightly when i was adjusting the tailpiece pretty gently after screwing it in. However the insert was still held in place and the defect is barely visible so I'm not sweating it. Important to note is that the peg holes are slightly smaller than the holes on the original piece, I...

Above all my expectations for Asian copy. Well stamped polished solid brass with ebony insert. You can polish extra fine on your buffing wheel and get real gold look..... String posts are well stamped to the frame and thickness of the brass can handle much more then your string tension,so it will not break (just don't band up and down twisted angle numerous times as it will weak material, same will happen to originals)It's light/solid and you will not get any better sound with any expensi...

Good fit for D-500

Bought to replace the tailpiece in my Gitane D-500 after the original piece mysteriously cracked at one elbow. This replacement fit perfectly with no drilling needed. One of the slotted ends of the wooden isert cracked slightly when i was adjusting the tailpiece pretty gently after screwing it in. However the insert was still held in place and the defect is barely visible so I'm not sweating it. Important to note is that the peg holes are slightly smaller than the holes on the original piece, I had been using martin marquis light nut-end strings, and the cloth covered nut end of the 6th would not fit through the peg hole of the replacement tailpiece. So definitely for folks who run loop-end strings.

Great Tailpiece

Above all my expectations for Asian copy. Well stamped polished solid brass with ebony insert. You can polish extra fine on your buffing wheel and get real gold look..... String posts are well stamped to the frame and thickness of the brass can handle much more then your string tension,so it will not break (just don't band up and down twisted angle numerous times as it will weak material, same will happen to originals)It's light/solid and you will not get any better sound with any expensive "originals". Comparing price, quality and appearance it's a Best Buy.
