2001 Buscarino Cabaret

2001 Buscarino Cabaret
John Buscarino, a student of both Bob Benedetto and Augie LoPrizi, is among the most sought after of contemporary luthiers. His impeccable instruments are played by distinguished players such as Russell Malone, George Benson, Steve Morse, and Mike Christiansen. With a wait list that is 1-2 years long, it is a rare treat to find one of his best instruments available for immediate delivery.

This Cabaret model is an updated version of the seminal Herman Hauser design which has been modified to meet the needs of the contemporary jazz and fingerstyle guitarists. Innovations such as a carved back, Ventian cutaway, sound port, and internal pickup system provide the sound and playability required for modern styles. The tone is extremely clear, full voiced, and well defined; making it a great guitar for both pick-style jazz soloing or jazz/latin fingerpicking. The projection is exceptional for a nylon string guitar, allowing it to function well in unamplified acoustic ensembles of any kind. When played unaccompanied, this instrument's full bass response, present mids, and chimey highs provide a full, piano-like reproduction of whatever you play on it. Additionally, the bout mounted sound port acts as an acoustic monitor, directing a fair amount of sound back to the player so you can hear yourself better, especially in volume challenged situations.

Materials include a AAA bear claw Engleman spruce top, flamed maple back and sides, Honduran mahogany neck, ebony fingerboard and heel cap, walnut binding, bone nut, stainless steel frets, and a Brazilian rosewood bridge with abalone inlays. An LR Baggs RT active pickup is installed with tone and volume thumbwheels mounted discretely in the soundhole.

The Cabaret normally comes in two versions: the regular Cabaret which is has a 13 7/8" body and the Grand Cabaret which has a 14 3/8" body. This guitar was custom ordered with a 14" body and is thus a one-of-a-kind.

This instrument is in mint condition without a single ding or other sign of use. It plays perfectly and is for all intensive purposes indistinguishable from a new guitar.

If you're looking for a guitar with a full bodied nylon string sound for jazz or other contemporary styles, I don't think you could do much better than this wonderful Buscarino. John did an excellent job updating the classical guitar for the modern player. It's such a pleasure to play and listen to!
