I can add some information to this guitar. 2004 Blazer & Henkes Deja Vu Style 1 ***NEW PRICE!!!****
Rudolph Blazer and Wilhelm Henkes have long been among the most respected makers of replica Martin and Gibson flatop guitars. They are known for their exacting standards of workmanship, premium quality materials, and meticulous attention to detail. Their instruments fetch top tier prices, making them among the most coveted builders working today with a wait list approaching five years.

Back in 2004, Blazer and Henkes directed their considerable skills towards building their own concept of a Gypsy jazz style instrument which resulted in this lovely Selmer inspired design. It features a select alpine spruce top, Indian rosewood, and a mahogany neck. Hardware includes a Saga tailpiece and a set of Grover butterbean tuners.

In most respects, Blazer and Henkes stuck fairly close to the original Selmer design, with a few flatop characteristics thrown in such as a lack of a zero fret, a herringbone rosette, and a saddled bridge. As a nice stylistic touch, the moustache pieces were chamfered.

The sound of this instrument is very rich, modern, and balanced. It has a thicker midrange and more bass than a typical Selmer guitar. The high end is very rounded and pleasing, without the brashness of more traditional sounding models. It projects well, with good clarity and a fairly dry, direct sound. It's a perfect choice for someone looking for a more balanced, versatile instrument that is at home in a Gypsy context as well as swing, folk, and beyond.

This instrument is in mint condition with few signs of use. Even the frets look new!  It plays exceedingly well, with very low 2.6mm action and very little buzz.

Here's a chance to own a rare Gypsy model from some of the most celebrated luthiers of our time at a price that's too good to be true!

Blazer & Henkes

I can add some information to this guitar. Rudie Blazer is a close friend of mine and this guitar (along with another one which I kept) was built for me, when I asked him and his companion Willi Henkes, if they could build a Selmer Style guitar. As Michael has already mentioned, their craftsmanship and their replicas of old Martin and Gibson flattop guitars are second to none. The Selmer world was new to them at that time and the result were these two guitars that, appart from some cosmetic differences, were very similar. They used solid wood back and sides, a cedro neck, all hide-glue construction and a little thicker top, resulting in some flat-top characteristics which Michael described. They have a rather higher headroom in their sound than other Selmer guitars, which makes them carry a great distance when you pick with more power. In the meantime, Rudie has built three more Selmers, one of which I play now. It was copied after a great sounding 1946 model and uses more traditionally correct building methods and has a sound very similar to the old Selmer. Still, the old ones are very nice guitar and really a steal for that price! Several years ago, I made a video in the Blazer and Henkes workshop of the guitar which is now for sale (never mind the sloppy playing...) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0bVy4OQCKSM
