Patenotte for sale

I'm offering up my Patenotte 254 for sale, as part of a bit of guitar housecleaning. This guitar was built by Claude Patenotte, one of a long line of highly respected Mirecourt builders. It was built sometime in the 2000s, and they're not being built anymore - Claude retired a few years back. This is your chance to get real French handmade guitar craftsmanship at an Asian factory price.

The guitar is a 14 fret oval hole with a comfortable 645mm scale and action under 3mm, making it very easy to play, with no buzzes or other issues. The body is a bit bigger than normal Selmer dimensions at 16 ⅛". Top is European Spruce, back and sides are a very attractive flame maple laminate. Three on a plate tuners and strung with Argentine 10s. It comes with a Golden Gate moulded plastic hardshell case. The guitar is light as a feather at 3.85 lbs. It originally had a funky one-piece bridge. I replaced that with a regular Selmer style bridge and glued some moustache pieces on, which improved both the appearance and the sound. The original bridge is in the case.

And the sound - you normally don't get this kind of sound at anywhere near this price range. It is quite dry and direct without overtone ringing, and at the same time full and complex, with a lot of focus in the midrange. Great projection and volume.

Asking $1400, shipping and customs (if any) are the responsibility of the buyer.

  • I counted my pennies, but as I just bought another SML tenor sax I just can't afford 8 k for a case.

If I hadn't just bought the dDuPont short scale this one would be gone, that is one great guitar value folks. You could spend a lot more and still not get as good a sound.IMO

For anyone now playing an Asian built guitar and thinking about an upgrade that doesn't cost big $$$, this is the one for you - half the price of a used Dupont, with that authentic French sound!

  • Yeah....I was too slow on the Patenotte and had to spend a lot more to get my DuPont short scale.

May need to get some extra gigs to pay for it, but it might be a few months. You in a hurry?
