Tailpiece question, non GJ

If one were to replace a metal trapeze tailpiece on an archtop guitar with a wooden one like a Benedetto.... what sort of a difference would there be in the tone?

I'm not sure it would fit. But if it did that would be cool. I have seen some of the newer Favinos that have an ebony carved tailpiece. It works as long as it will fit between the bridge and end of the guitar.

    Cheers,

The Ebony tailpiece shortens sustain. It also changes the tone slightly (makes it darker).

Some guys prefer wood, others (including myself) prefer metal.

    Cheers,
