That one does not have the verse (chords and melody)

Nice changes though so thanks anyway.

If I could find a recorded version of it with the VERSE I could just transcribe it if anyone can post an mp3.

    Thanks

I looked and looked, couldn't find a recording with the VERSE...
Got the lyrics for the verse, everyone knows the chorus lyrics and changes...
Let me know if you come up with a verse recording.
I believe it is sung only once at the beginning. Correct?

Yes, that's right. It is typically only done as an intro. A lot of songs have a verse but hardly anyone plays them.

    Thanks for looking!

This book is listed as featuring "the original version of each tune, and all known verses", and it lists Russian Lullaby. Could be worth looking into if you have a big music store nearby...it's possible they mean all known choruses, though...

    Long live the verse!

Scratch that...I just checked in the shop next door; they have the book and the Russian Lullaby really is a lullaby, not the Berlin tune.

    sorry,
    Jack.

    Verse,

    Where the dreamy volga flows
    There's a lonely Russian rose
    Gazing tenderly
    Down upon her knee
Where a baby's brown eyes glisten
    Listen

    Then the Chorus...

I've tried the net, radio stations, to no avail...
I'll try WWOZ and see if they have it...
Has anyone tried the other groups... ie... Europe?
    Back to practice...

    Hi all,

Using some high-tech shenanigans, I've managed to piece together at least part of the verse chart. Hope it helps...once you find a recording you should be fine...I wonder if Ella does it on the Berlin Songbook CD?

Anyway, here's what I've got. And if you have or are willing to install Scorch (from Sibelius), you can see the score and hear a midi version here:

I have the 1958 version of Ella singing it...
    Unfortunately, no verse...
    Oh well!
Big hole in the ground in this quest...
There must be a vocal recording out there some where with the verse...

    Well!
    Thanks Jack!
I should have looked closer to the sheet music you sent...
    That's it!
    Cool!
