A number of manufacturers used to produce "C-melody" tenor saxophone in their ranges, they were very popular in the 1920's . they're useful today for those reading guitar parts or melodies written in concert pitch, since there's no need to transpose the music.
They have a "sound of their own", somewhere between the Bb tenor and Eb alto.
