Argentines for practice guitar?

Will switching to Argentines make any difference on a solidbody, purely transducer-pickup-driven practice guitar? While I can mess with my amp modeler's tone/eq/effects to get a vaguely GJ-sounding tone I'm wondering if changing the strings (currently some kind of PB mediums) could help.
I'm not expecting much - as said I'm just using it for practice. But it'd be nice if it would sound better than it does now.
