Schertler Stat Pickup

The Schertler STAT-Series electrostatic system was designed and patented in 1988 and is used by thousands of musicians worldwide. STAT-Series transducers are well known for their high feedback resistance and for providing an impressive “bridge sound” without the harshness or distortion of a piezo pickup. STATs provide a full and realistic string instrument sound, never harsh or shrill with full bass tones and clear, bright trebles.

STAT-Series transducers are ideal for rock, fusion and jazz, where loud amplified levels can otherwise create feedback problems. Furthermore, STATs work very effectively with signal processors and effects.

Available for four specific string instrument applications, STAT-V (violin and viola), STAT-C (cello) and STAT-B (double bass), each variant takes into consideration the individual characteristics of each instrument and works well for all playing styles.

Installation is simple: the pickup capsule is placed in one of the bridge wing cutouts. Constructed with soft cork on one end of the capsule, the cork is easily carved to the curvature of the cutout. Once mounted, a STAT transducer can remain on the instrument indefinitely. Likewise, the STAT can be easily removed and reinstalled as necessary.

Schertler STAT-Series transducers require 9-volt power and a Schertler preamplifier. Each STAT-Set includes a battery-driven STAT-PRE preamp, while the STAT-SELECT Set includes the more sophisticated PRE-AII. The PRE-AII is driven by a regulated AC power supply which in turn powers the STAT transducer.

Both Sets include a high-quality Schertler cable and specially designed clips to attach the connectors to the tailpiece of the instrument.
